University of Florida - Gainesville, FL (online) January 2015 to December 2016
Shortly after my undergraduate graduation, I knew I wanted to go back to school. My Bachelor's degree in Media & Professional Communications encompasses such a large spectrum of niches and specialties, so I really wanted to hone in on one particular aspect of communication that I enjoy. In January of 2015, I began my journey to my Masters of Arts in Mass Communications with a focus in Social Media Management; this degree was completed 100% online, which is the great part! I was able work and enjoy my life in Pennsylvania and get my degree from such a reputable school while hundreds of miles away from campus.
Certification
HootSuite University (online) August 2015 to October 2015
Part of the required coursework for one of my Fall 2015 classes was to complete the HootSuite Certification course. Here, I learned everything from basic usage of HootSuite to Advanced Listening Tactics and Analytics. Here is my Certified HootSuite Profile (FYI - biographical information is a bit outdated).
Undergraduate
University of Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh, PA August 2010 to April 2014
Majoring in Media and Professional Communications was perfect for me. I was exposed to many parts of Communication that I enjoy, such as creative and nonfiction writing, marketing, and new/social media practices. Tacking on a minor in Political Science opened up my options even more so than they had already been. The history and inner workings of our country's government fascinate me, and this minor only fed the fire. Finally, a certificate in Corporate and Community Relations enabled me to learn in the classroom some skills that I would use and improve upon in my internship, and even more so in my full-time career.
High School
Cumberland Valley High School - Mechanicsburg, PA August 2006 to June 2010
In my free credit slots and spare time, I tried out various classes such as cooking, photography, and choral ensemble. My favorite class in high school was TV Production, otherwise known as "CVTV". From sophomore year through the end of senior year, I had the privilege of producing and anchoring our school's daily morning announcements. Along with airing the school news, our class was designed to teach students every facet of TV and media production. This meant completing different projects, such as creating a Public Service Announcement, a 30-second commercial, and fulfilling the requirement of running all of the different studio positions.
